Nigella Seeds
You'll find nigella seeds gracing the top of your Indian naan, and bakers are finding it a winsome baking ingredient in other breads and crackers as well.
Its slightly bitter and nutty flavor is released with heat. Also known as kalonji, charnushka, sativa or black onion seed.
"Spinach is a main ingredient on my salad list. A spinach salad is taken to a new level for me with the simple addition of nigella seeds, which top the salad along with some ground black peppercorns. Once I added nigella in, I couldn't ever leave it out." - Mayona's Staff Picks, 2021
